Lunch with Mr. Jerz and Teaching at the University
Today, I met Ryan for lunch at the Record Street Cafe located just off of Evans street. It was the first time I had been there and the food was pretty good. It was around 11:30 and the place was empty. I’m not sure how crowded it gets on a regular week day but the place was cool.
It was great to geek out with Ryan for a bit on blogging and podcasting. We discussed the pros and cons of Wordpress, Drupal, Text Pattern and Blogger. In the “small city” category, I found out that Ryan used to live on the same street that I live on now. He actually recognized the neighborhood from some of my Flickr photos. (By the way, Ryan released a new episode of his podcast in which he interviewed mayoral candidate Erik Holland).
After lunch, we headed to the Journalism school. As I mentioned on the Twelve Horses blog, I was invited by Bourne Morris to present to her copy writing class about all things Internet. I thought the conversation was fruitful and I hope I was able to impart some of my experiences on the class. Besides writing for the web, we discussed making money online, content publishing and search optimization.
On the way back to the office, I took some photos of the new Mathewson-IGT Knowledge Center construction.

The IGT Knowledge Center looks fantastic. Hopefully they will have some multimedia classes that even we will want to attend!
